Author: (Qing) Hongtang Tuishi compiled, Chen Wanjun supplemented annotations
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2004-01-01
Features: "Three Hundred Poems of the Tang Dynasty" was compiled by Hongtang Tuishi and became widely popular, almost reaching the point where every household had a copy. However, the annotations were too brief, causing readers to complain. Chen Boying, a lady historian from Shanyuan, personally compiled eight volumes of supplementary annotations, meticulously examining and verifying each word and sentence. Her work greatly benefited beginners in poetry, though her efforts were not widely recognized. The original book's plates were stored in Li's Cankuaige, making it rare in the market and limiting its reach among scholars. Therefore, I have taken her annotations, revised and reprinted them, and entrusted them to craftsmen to broaden their dissemination. The book's format remains unchanged. However, the five poems of "Ode to Ancient Sites" by Shao Ding were only recorded as two in Hongtang's "Record of Shao Ding," resulting in an omission. This edition includes the full five poems, allowing readers to view the complete work. The annotations strictly follow "Mirror of Du's Poetry," without daring to alter a single word.
