Mastoid process behind the ear

Patient's question:

I recently noticed a lump on my right ear, and I'm not sure if it's a lymph node. It doesn't hurt when pressed, and it's not connected to the skin. When I run my hand along the edge of the mastoid bone, I can clearly feel a layered texture. What could this be?

Doctor's answer:

In your case, there is no major issue considering swollen lymph nodes behind the ear or sebaceous cysts. It is recommended to actively treat your rhinitis, take oral antibiotics, and closely monitor the condition. If the medication is ineffective, surgical excision followed by a pathological examination can be considered.
