Features: SAS (Statistical Analysis System) is a very popular statistical analysis software internationally and has now developed into a comprehensive information system development software. It is highly functional and extensive. The portion of the microcomputer version 6.12 introduced in this book alone occupies hundreds of megabytes of disk space, and its guide materials are also extremely rich. For beginners, it can feel like being in the vast ocean of knowledge with no clear starting point. To address the difficulties faced by beginners, we have written this book. The purpose is to allow readers to grasp the basic content of SAS statistical analysis through a combination of learning and practice in a relatively relaxed manner. Once these basic contents are mastered, readers will be equipped to perform common statistical analysis tasks, and further learning will become less challenging. SAS programs mainly consist of data steps (DATA step) and procedure steps (PROC step). Most SAS books start by explaining the DATA step, followed by the PROC step, often beginning with statements, which can be difficult to understand. This book focuses on solving practical statistical problems, starting with examples and programs concurrently, making it easier for readers to grasp and understand. This book essentially analyzes and discusses most of the examples from the book Medical Statistical Methods (edited by Jin Pihuian, published by Shanghai Medical University Press, 1993 edition) in sequence. Readers can refer to this book to review statistical theory and better understand SAS output. The discussions also analyze the usage of important statements in SAS and introduce methods for writing programs using these statements when no existing PROC is available. SAS is extremely rich in content, but this book is limited to the main content of the BASE and STAT modules. It expands on logistic regression and chi-square test sections, enriching the new content. Since these topics are rarely covered in similar statistical books in China, this book holds greater reference value. At the end of the book, exercises and answers are provided for readers to practice.
