Muscle twitch

Patient's question:

Waist circumference, one round of muscle twitching, no discomfort. It's like the vibration of a mobile phone. My face has become slimmer recently. It's been a few months.

Doctor's answer:

Muscle cramp, also known as a charley horse, is a phenomenon that occurs when muscles experience involuntary strong tonic contractions. In elderly individuals, muscle cramps are commonly observed during sports, especially during prolonged physical activities. The calf muscle (gastrocnemius, located at the back of the lower leg) is the most prone to cramping, followed by the flexor muscles of the foot.
Advice: When a cramp occurs, do not panic. For mild muscle cramps, applying a stretch in the opposite direction to the cramping muscle and holding it for a certain period usually helps alleviate the pain. Avoid using excessive force during stretching, as it should be done evenly and slowly to prevent muscle strain.
