Is ichthyosis always genetic?

Patient's question:

I am in my twenties and have been diagnosed with ichthyosis, which is a skin condition. I currently have a boyfriend and plan to get married in the future. I don't know if this disease is hereditary, or what the likelihood of inheritance is. If I have children in the future, will they also get this disease? I am very worried. If it turns out that my children will also develop it, then I don't plan to have children.

Doctor's answer:

A 20-year-old young woman with ichthyosis, which is generally inherited to the next generation. Advice: Hello, ichthyosis is hereditary, with a heritability rate possibly at 75%. However, it is only a skin disease that may affect appearance but does not affect a person's health. There is no need to avoid having children because of this. It is recommended to use vitamin A, 13-cis retinoic acid, Xueshengling, or methotrexate for treatment.
