Features: With the rapid development of pharmaceutical technology, a large number of new drugs are continuously applied in clinical practice, while many older drugs are also repurposed. The question of whether new and old drugs can be used together, and whether their combined use is safe and effective, are challenging issues that clinicians often face but find difficult to resolve. To facilitate rational drug use in clinical practice, we have built upon the original "256 Drug Compatibility Reference for Intravenous Solutions" and incorporated a wealth of new information on drug compatibility and recent experimental conclusions. We have eliminated 40 outdated or rarely used intravenous solutions from the original table, while adding 90 newly launched intravenous solutions in recent years. Based on this, we have rewritten the "306 Drug Compatibility Reference for Clinical Use" and its companion volume, the "306 Drug Compatibility Handbook for Clinical Use," designed for healthcare professionals. Additionally, we have included 14 supplementary tables at the end of the book, aiming to provide colleagues with a safer, more effective, comprehensive, and convenient clinical drug compatibility tool.
Science is constantly advancing and has no end. The clinical application of drugs is also a dynamic and evolving process. In the compilation of this handbook, in addition to referencing physicochemical compatibility, we have also extensively consulted recent research findings related to the 306 intravenous solutions covered in the table, including pharmacology, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, clinical pharmacy, toxicology, and pharmaceutical analysis. We have made every effort to clearly indicate the changes in pharmacological, pharmacodynamic, pharmacokinetic, chemical, analytical, and toxicological effects resulting from drug compatibility. Due to differences in information coverage, analytical perspectives, experimental drugs, and conditions, the outcomes of drug compatibility may vary significantly from previous conclusions regarding intravenous solutions. Some may even differ greatly. We urge all colleagues to carefully read the product instructions during clinical use, fully consider individual patient differences, product quality, formulations, and other factors, adhere to the actual changes in drug compatibility, and ensure patient safety and efficacy.
We sincerely hope that any shortcomings in this book will be pointed out and corrected by our readers.
