Will neurasthenia be inherited?

Patient's question:

I suffer from mild neurasthenia. I had a child late in life. It was my youngest son, though, and the whole family was filled with joy both at home and outside. But I alone was frowning. My wife didn't think much of it and cheerfully asked, "What's wrong? You have a son now, you should be happy." I told her my thoughts, and she immediately became unhappy too. When my older son and grandson heard about it, they started searching online everywhere.

Doctor's answer:

Experts from the Department of Psychiatry at Shijiazhuang Changjiang Psychiatric Hospital say that neurasthenia is not hereditary. Neurasthenia is a type of psychological disorder characterized by mental excitability, easily fatigued brain power, frequent emotional distress, and psychological and physiological symptoms. It is essential to seek timely treatment to prevent the condition from worsening. In other words, the occurrence of this condition is related not only to external stimuli but also to individual internal factors, including personality traits.
