Does hepatitis B minor positive affect children?

Patient's question:

After I found out I had hepatitis B surface antigen positive (small triangle) after pregnancy, I was very worried about whether it would affect my child. So, I want to ask, in my situation, can I still have this child? If I do, will it affect the child?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, women who carry the hepatitis B virus can start receiving monthly injections of 1 dose of hepatitis B immune globulin from the third month of pregnancy, which can provide effective protection for the fetus. For pregnant women who are close to delivery and found to be hepatitis B carriers, newborns should receive an immediate hepatitis B vaccine injection within 24 hours of birth, with double the standard dose, followed by booster shots one month and six months later, achieving a protection rate of 86.65% for the newborn. If an injection of 1 dose of hepatitis B immune globulin is given immediately after birth and again one month later while the newborn is receiving the hepatitis B vaccine, the protection rate can reach as high as 97.13%. Additionally, if the mother also receives monthly injections of hepatitis B immune globulin starting from the third month of pregnancy, the protection for the child will be even more effective.
