Features: Ye Nan, born in 1968, was admitted to the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1988. In 1989, she was selected by the state to study for a master's degree at the Repin Academy of Arts in Leningrad, Soviet Union. In 1996, she returned to China and is currently a lecturer at the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts and a member of the Chinese Oil Painters Association. Under the guidance of Mr. Faming, a People's Artist of the Soviet Union and an academician of the Art Research Institute, Ye Nan studied diligently for seven years and graduated with honors, earning a master's degree. During her studies at the Repin Academy, she won the highest award of the academy—the graduation work Loneliness (1996) was awarded by the Russian Art Research Institute and is now collected by the State Hermitage Museum, one of Russia's largest museums with a history of over two hundred years. In 1994, she joined the "International Association of Fine Arts" in Moscow and has participated in various exhibitions and held numerous solo exhibitions. In 1993, she participated in the "Walkers on Red Square—Solo Oil Paintings Exhibition of Chinese Young Oil Painters" in Moscow. In 1994, she participated in the "Golden Cube—Exhibition of Young Oil Painters of the Russian Artists Association" in Moscow. In 1995, she participated in the "Saint Petersburg Artists Association Annual Exhibition" and the "Harmony—Four Chinese and Russian Painters Exhibition" in Saint Petersburg. In 1997, she participated in the "Second Generation of Returnee Artists Exhibition" in Beijing. Her oil painting Heavy Burden won the award of the "Towards the New Century—Exhibition of Young Chinese Oil Painters." Her sketches won the academic art award at the "Chinese Contemporary Sketch Exhibition." In 1999, she participated in the Qingdao International Art Biennial. In January 2000, she participated in the "Gate of the Century: 1997–1999 China Art Invitational Exhibition," and in July, she participated in the "20th Century Chinese Oil Painting Exhibition." In 2000, she published two monographs: Russian Sketch Techniques and A View from the Neva—On the Painting Department of the Repin Academy. In February 2001, she held the "Spiritual Journey—Sun Tao and Ye Nan Exhibition" at the Beijing International Art Gallery. In 2001, she published the Painting Works Collection of Sun Tao and Ye Nan—From the Repin Academy. In February 2001, five works, including the series The Call, were collected by the National Art Museum of China. In 2001, she participated in the "Gate of the Century—China Art Invitational Exhibition" in Chengdu. In 2001, she participated in the "Chinese Contemporary Painting Art Exhibition" held in multiple countries in South America. In October 2001, she participated in the "Fifth National Sports Art Exhibition" held in Guangdong. In 2002, she participated in the "Chinese Contemporary Art" South American tour exhibition organized by the Ministry of Culture. In 2003, she participated in the "Third Oil Painting Exhibition" organized by the Chinese Artists Association and the Oil Painters Association.
