Features: In English for Specific Purposes (ESP), legal English is one of the most distinctive types. If ESP must be learned through "specialized" training, then legal English should be considered "highly specialized"; even native English speakers may not possess such knowledge. This means that legal English textbooks written for Chinese readers must be meticulously planned in terms of material selection, annotations, and exercise design. The compilers of this textbook have accumulated many valuable and effective experiences in teaching legal English. In the writing process, they have taken into account the characteristics of Chinese students, focusing on both the cultivation of language skills such as reading, writing, speaking, and translation, as well as the input of legal knowledge. They emphasize both the coherence of the textbook system and the progressive nature of knowledge, covering areas such as basic legal knowledge, international economic law, and legal topic discussions. This ensures that students not only learn English but also acquire legal knowledge. From the textbook's preface, it can be seen that this series currently only includes one volume, and more will follow, such as Legal English Listening and Speaking Course, Legal English Reading Course, Legal English Writing Course, and Legal English Chinese-English Translation Course. The publication of this series will greatly benefit the cultivation of legal English majors, and we eagerly await its release. This course includes three volumes: I, II, and III. Only reference answers for each unit are provided in the book. For exercises where exact reference answers cannot be given, such as discussions and writing tasks, hints are also provided.
