Author: Wang Deming
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2001-03-01
Features: This book is the revised edition of the Teacher's Book for the fifth volume of "College English Intensive Reading Course." It includes teaching plans for the intensive reading texts from Unit 1 to Unit 10, as well as three appendices: "Semi-reading Exercise Answers," "Reference Translations for Intensive Reading Texts," and "Reference Translations for Reading Materials." The teaching plans for each unit are basically structured into the following three parts:
(1) Background Material (Information related to the text), including the author's biography, character introductions, and background knowledge such as the educational, social life, and customs of the English and American texts.
(2) Introductory Remarks, explaining the main theme of the text.
(3) Language Points, including annotations on difficult points in the text and examples of sentence patterns and idioms used. Key words selected from the intensive reading texts and requiring repeated practice are annotated as language points, accompanied by examples. Given the polysemy of English words, when dealing with key terms, in addition to clarifying their meanings and usage in the intensive reading texts, the book also appropriately introduces their meanings and usage in other contexts according to the word meaning requirements outlined in the "General Vocabulary List for College English Teaching Program." Whether or not to explain these terms to students or when to explain them can be flexibly determined by the teacher. When arranging teaching activities, teachers can selectively use the above content based on their actual teaching situations. Exercise answers may sometimes have multiple options, and those provided in this book are for reference only.
