Patient's question:
What are the symptoms of ADHD in children?Doctor's answer:
Hello: Pay attention to obstaclesThe child finds it difficult to concentrate, often giving up halfway in everything they do, even when playing games. Any auditory or visual stimuli in the environment can distract them. After starting primary school, the symptoms become more pronounced in the classroom. Sitting in class, they keep looking around, absent-minded, with very short periods of focused listening. Whether looking at picture books or watching TV, they can only sit still for a moment before getting up to move around.
2. Hyperactivity
Children with this condition often have high activity levels from a young age, with some even being particularly active in the womb. As their physical functions develop after birth, their restlessness becomes more apparent. Once they learn to walk, they prefer not to sit, and after learning to climb stairs, they climb up and down constantly. In kindergarten, these children cannot sit on small stools for the normal required duration. In school, most children, due to restrictions, increase their self-imposed limits on activity. Hyperactive children exhibit even more pronounced overactivity. In class, they make constant small movements, even standing up and walking around the classroom without permission. As soon as school ends, they dash out like arrows. Such children walk around bouncing and jumping, at home they rummage through boxes and drawers, busy with activity, and even at night, they often toss and turn, grind their teeth, and talk in their sleep. About half of hyperactive children experience motor coordination issues, struggling with fine motor tasks like buttoning clothes, tying shoelaces, or using scissors.
3. Perceptual and Sensory Disorders
This manifests as visual-motor disorders, spatial position perception disorders, difficulty distinguishing left from right, frequently wearing shoes the wrong way, auditory integration difficulties, and visual-auditory conversion difficulties, among others.
