I. The History of the Guitar
The guitar is an ancient plucked string instrument with a wide variety of shapes and string counts. It has been popular in the West since the 13th century. By the 16th century, the Spanish guitar had already evolved into a solo instrument. In the 17th century, it gradually spread to the courts of other European countries and became a beloved pastime for noble youth. Early guitar tunings were inconsistent, with forms such as four-string fourths, five-string fourths, and five-string fifths having been used. It wasn't until the 18th century that the modern six-string guitar emerged, with a more rational tuning that greatly enhanced the instrument's musical expressiveness.
