What is the reason why Baby's arm is slightly swollen after swiping the card?

Patient's question:

My baby has been tracking mustard greens for over a month, but there are still swollen spots on their arms. When will they heal? Thank you.

Doctor's answer:

Hello:
Three to four weeks after the baby receives the BCG vaccine, a small nodule the size of a peanut may appear at the injection site. The surface will be red or purplish-red, and a small papule may gradually form in the center. Over time, it will slowly rupture on its own, releasing some discharge. After another two to three weeks, a scab will form at the rupture site and fall off naturally, leaving a slightly depressed small scar.
The baby can continue with normal activities, such as bathing and feeding. If, after three to four weeks, there is no scab at the rupture site or a lump is found in the left armpit, it is necessary to take the baby to the hospital for examination.
