Features: Critical care nursing is a mandatory subject in the undergraduate segment of adult higher nursing education. The purpose of setting up this course is to enable students to understand the basic principles of critical care nursing. It focuses on the vital signs of critical care patients and the maintenance of important organ functions, as well as the prevention and treatment of life-threatening complications. The course aims to help students understand and master the etiology, pathogenesis, resuscitation, treatment, monitoring, and nursing measures for critical care. Based on the characteristic that adult education students have certain clinical experience, the course emphasizes improving their foundational theoretical knowledge on the basis of their associate degree. In terms of professional competence, attention is paid to broadening students' perspectives on clinical nursing work, understanding the development of new theories, knowledge, technologies, and instruments, and being able to apply and master common monitoring instruments and techniques. The course highlights practicality, aiming to meet the knowledge and skill requirements of a university-level education.
