Does watching TV affect a baby's vision development?

Patient's question:

My daughter is almost three months old. When the adults hold her and watch TV, she also looks at the TV screen. I wonder if this will affect her vision development?

Doctor's answer:

1. It has been confirmed that the longer the time spent watching TV, the greater the impact on a child's vision;
2. It is also not good for the eyes to be too close to the TV screen while watching TV;
3. After watching TV for a long time, the eyes become accustomed to the strong light of the TV, making it difficult to see in dimly lit or distant places. When these factors are combined, they can cause what is known as TV-induced myopia in children.
