How to Deal with a Child Waking Up Crying at Night

Patient's question:

My daughter had a high fever after getting the meningococcal vaccine on November 11th and started experiencing night terrors two days later. After falling asleep, she would suddenly wake up crying within half an hour to two hours. Her eyes would be wide open and she wouldn't recognize anyone. She would jump and bounce around, and whatever she said would be incomprehensible. This would last for about 5-10 minutes before she would calm down, recognize her parents, and fall back asleep until morning. This has been happening every day since then.
When we took her to the hospital for a video EEG, everything was normal. During the day, the child is completely fine. Now, the adults in the family are too afraid to sleep at night, as the child's discomfort makes their own suffering even worse. We desperately ask the doctor for help!

Doctor's answer:

This symptom is a manifestation of pediatric epilepsy, absolutely not convulsions! An electroencephalogram (EEG) can be performed during an episode to differentiate. Give honeysuckle water during the day and phenobarbital before bedtime. My friend has a 2-year-old child whose condition is exactly the same as your daughter's, haha. They used this very method.
