What is the reason why the child squints when looking at things?

Patient's question:

The child is 5 years old. Recently, it has been noticed that the child always tilts their head when looking at things and also squints a bit. Is it possible that they have strabismus and amblyopia?

Doctor's answer:

Symptoms of Children's Strabismus:
1. When a child has long-term strabismus, the eye that is not used will lead to visual weakening. An eye that is not used enough is called amblyopia; depth vision and stereoscopic vision require both eyes to work parallelly, so children with long-term strabismus will lack depth and stereoscopic perception. To use both eyes together, some children with long-term strabismus may tilt their head or face.
2. Poor stereoscopic sense, unable to accurately judge the position and distance of objects in space. Concomitant strabismus may also cause neurotic symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, insomnia, conjunctival and eyelid margin congestion, and other symptoms.
