Features: Calligraphy with hard tools is an art of beauty, and its beauty is everywhere: the beauty of strokes and lines, the beauty of frameworks and structures, and the beauty of layout and rhythm. Practice has proven that if children learn calligraphy at a young age and learn to appreciate the beauty of calligraphy, they will benefit from it for a lifetime. The calligraphy program established by Mohe Primary School, as a part of art education, has been widely favored by parents and students. Through six years of practice, we believe the time is ripe to compile a standardized, effective, and suitable textbook for extracurricular education, especially one that can help students appreciate the artistic beauty of calligraphy. This book is divided into two volumes: Volume 1 focuses on regular script (Kai Shu), while Volume 2 focuses on running script (Xing Shu). Each volume is divided into five parts: basic strokes, radicals, structure, reference to ancient models, and layout. The teaching method proceeds from simple to complex and is step-by-step, with a particular emphasis on training fundamental skills and creative abilities. This volume of regular script is suitable for children from senior kindergarten to sixth grade. During the writing process, we selected easily recognizable and memorable characters, providing an analysis of the "writing characteristics" for each stroke and radical. Given that children are young, enjoy visual learning, and are creative, we avoided rigid rules and instead presented them through vivid and engaging illustrations. Additionally, we included features like "analysis of common mistakes" and "calligraphy storytelling sessions" to enrich the content and cultivate students' interest as much as possible.
