When Lin's daughter Song Xiaofei was four years old, she went missing and was controlled by the local ruffian Wu Changfa, who tattooed a "Moon Flower" mark on her back. During this time, Xiaofei formed a deep friendship with the eight-year-old thief Gao Qiang, and was later rescued by Ren Yougang. Xiao Meiyi, after her father's bankruptcy and suicide, was adopted by Ren Yougang and grew up with Ren Yougang's son Ren Weijian, gradually developing feelings for him. Eighteen years later, Weijian accidentally meets Xiaofei, who is now in college, and develops feelings for her, causing Meiyi to feel jealous. Xiaofei gets into a fight at a nightclub to defend her friend Luo Mengting and is saved by Gao Qiang. Gao Qiang recognizes Xiaofei from the "Moon Flower" tattoo on her back and tells her the story of what happened back then. Xiaofei feels ashamed and wants to remove the tattoo, but Weijian stops her. Gao Qiang and Wu Changfa clash over the nightclub, and Wu Changfa takes Xiaofei hostage to threaten Gao Qiang. Weijian learns of this and goes to rescue her but is beaten badly. Xiaofei goes to visit Weijian but is blocked by Meiyi and Bai Xiuying. Meiyi accidentally learns the origin of the "Moon Flower" tattoo and reveals it to everyone, causing Xiaofei immense pain. Gao Qiang and Ren Yougang partner to open "Yudu Craftsmanship Factory," but Wu Changfa interferes by storing smuggled goods in the factory's warehouse, leading to Ren Yougang's arrest. Wu attempts to buy Ren Yougang's "Ocean Trading." Although Weijian holds misunderstandings about Gao Qiang due to the smuggling incident, Gao Qiang still tries to prevent Wu's acquisition plan. Luo Mengting marries a nouveau riche to help Gao Qiang raise money, hiding it from everyone, thus resolving the difficulties of Yudu and Ren Yougang. Under Ren Yougang's guidance, Xiaofei and Weijian reconcile. Meiyi harbors resentment, and after hearing that her father's suicide was orchestrated by Ren Yougang, she decides to take revenge. Meiyi deliberately provokes Bai Xiuying into a fit, leading to her killing Lin Zhen, and Xiaofei and Weijian are forced to separate again. In the end, Ren Yougang reveals the truth about her father's suicide to Meiyi, who, filled with remorse, leaves for the United States. Ren Yougang also retreats to the mountains with Bai Xiuying. This series of events leaves Xiaofei heartbroken, but she recovers under Gao Qiang's care. However, Wu Changfa escapes from prison and abducts Xiaofei to Gao Qiang. Weijian goes to rescue her at all costs. Xiaofei is saved, but Gao Qiang is taken hostage by Wu Changfa. Gao Qiang and Wu Changfa struggle in the car, causing it to roll down a mountain. Three years later, Xiaofei and Weijian meet at Gao Qiang's grave. Xiaofei quietly tells Weijian: Although their love is like a mirage, it remains in their dreams, and that is enough.
