Jeanne Luce is observing celestial bodies beyond the outermost planets in the solar system. It is a ring composed of millions of icy debris orbiting the Sun. Luce and her collaborator David Jewitt first discovered these celestial bodies in 1992. The rocky Pluto is the largest object in this ring, which is called the Kuiper Belt. Pluto, along with approximately 3,000 other objects, travels through space together. Luce and Jewitt call these objects the "Pluto Group." In the Kuiper Belt, some celestial bodies escape and move closer to the Sun. The Sun's heat makes them glow and transform into comets.
