Fever and convulsions, is there suspicion of epilepsy?

Patient's question:

A 3-week-old and 8-month-old baby girl faints and convulses whenever she has a fever, with her eyes rolling back, foaming at the mouth, and purple lips. There were no symptoms of a cold before this, but low fever led to the above conditions. Is it epilepsy? Can epilepsy cause fever?

Doctor's answer:

Many patients with epilepsy experience a preictal phase before the onset of a seizure, characterized by symptoms such as dizziness, stomach discomfort, and others. In more severe cases, the seizure may manifest as sudden loss of consciousness, cessation of breathing, twitching of the limbs, clenched fists, upward rolling of the eyes or deviation of the black part of the eyes to one side, bluish complexion, foaming at the mouth, often accompanied by tongue bite and incontinence.
Advice: Patients should not worry because epilepsy can be clinically cured. Patients should maintain a positive attitude. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
