Features: The "Ancient Chinese Forbidden Books Library" compiles over a hundred forbidden books from various dynasties in China, most of which exist as unique copies in libraries or private hands domestically and internationally. Due to academic needs, the French National Center for Scientific Research、 two doctoral students began collecting various forbidden books over a decade ago. During this period, they received assistance from scholars in China, Japan, Europe, and America. To date, they have acquired one hundred and twenty-three types, along with several reference appendices, totaling over three hundred versions. They have compiled and corrected the collected materials into a definitive edition for reference by libraries and scholars both domestically and internationally. During the 2000 Beijing International Book Fair, to rescue cultural treasures of China, Faraway Press invested to comprehensively introduce the simplified Chinese edition of the "Ancient Chinese Forbidden Books Library." Overcoming numerous difficulties, this grand publishing project was eventually completed.
