My baby was found to have high on the third day.

Patient's question:

High index (19) born on the third day with high jaundice. Previous treatment and effectiveness: Laboratory tests revealed positive results for three hemolysis indicators. Currently, after explanation from the doctor: anesthesia intravenous injection of human autoimmunoglobulin and blue light treatment. It has been the second day now, and the jaundice has somewhat faded...

Doctor's answer:

Jaundice can be divided into physiological jaundice and pathological jaundice. Suggestions: Physiological jaundice: It reappears 2-3 days after birth, peaks on days 4-6, and disappears in full-term infants within 10-14 days, while in premature infants, it may persist for 3-4 weeks. Generally, treatment is not required. The main reasons are the large destruction of red blood cells after birth, excessive production of bilirubin, and immature liver function leading to low ability to metabolize bilirubin. Pathological jaundice: Any case where jaundice reappears too early (within 24 hours after birth), is too severe, persists for too long, or reappears after fading is considered pathological jaundice. It is recommended to use blue light for treatment.
