Patient's question:
CRP is high (68) but blood culture is negative, does this mean the baby can be discharged? When can CRP drop to normal levels? Is a CRP of 68 still indicating severe inflammation? Is sepsis itself inflammation? What kind of assistance is needed: Explain...Doctor's answer:
It refers to bacteria entering the bloodstream, growing and acclimatizing there, producing toxins, and causing systemic severe infection. Clinical manifestations include fever, severe toxic symptoms, petechial rash, hepatosplenomegaly, and leukocytosis.Guidance: When sepsis is accompanied by multiple abscesses, it is referred to as septicemia.
(1) Antimicrobial treatment should be initiated as early as possible with antibiotics. If there are inflammatory foci, surgical drainage or aspiration should be performed in addition to systemic antibiotic use.
(2) Other treatments should provide a high-protein, high-calorie, and high-vitamin diet to ensure basic nutritional support. Prophylactic globulin or small, frequent infusions of plasma, whole blood, or albumin may be administered intravenously. In cases of severe toxic symptoms, short-term (3–5 days) corticosteroid therapy can be given in conjunction with adequate use of effective antibiotics.
