His great charm in always standing at the forefront of global culture, his profound love for the Chinese nation, his indomitable spirit in fighting against all forms of tyranny, and his courageous defense of human values make other cultural figures of various kinds appear less towering. Although Lin Yutang wrote extensively, in the presence of Lu Xun, he can only be considered as a camphor tree with a lush canopy among the towering trees.
