A 1.5-year-old boy has been having diarrhea; what might be the cause?

Patient's question:

Patient Age: Over one year
Condition Description: The patient has been experiencing yellow diarrhea for a while, with 3 to 4 episodes per day, which has now led to fever. The diarrhea has lasted for 6 days.
Past Treatment and Effect: Applied Dinggui Qipie (Tiger Balm Navel Patch), received Andrographis paniculata injections, and taken Gentamicin Sulfate Granules and Children's Paracetamol and Chlorpheniramine Mixture.
Desired Help: What could be the main cause? Are there any better treatments to reduce the baby's diarrhea?

Doctor's answer:

Viral infection, first of all, carefully observe and record the characteristics of your baby's stool, how many times a day do they have a bowel movement? If the stool is watery or like egg drop soup, and they have 5, 6, or even 10 bowel movements a day, then it is abnormal, mostly indicating intestinal inflammation. If the stool contains mucus and pus blood and has a foul odor, it is likely bacterial infection-induced intestinal inflammation. If there is no foul odor and no mucus or pus blood, it is viral infection-induced intestinal inflammation.
Infants' gastrointestinal tracts are not yet fully developed, their immune systems are not mature, and their regulatory functions across various body systems are also relatively poor. Therefore, they are more susceptible to external environmental influences, leading to dysbiosis of the intestinal flora. After using antibiotics, the baby's intestinal flora becomes disrupted, which is why they experience diarrhea.
