Features: "Selected Readings in Contemporary Soviet Literature" is a textbook designed for advanced Russian majors in higher education institutions. This textbook aims to reflect the general outline of the development of Soviet literature from the 1950s to the 1980s. When selecting materials, attention was paid not only to the ideological and artistic quality of the works but also to their diverse genres, themes, and artistic styles. As a result, a large number of writers were included, totaling ten. Another reason for including a substantial number of works in this textbook is the scarcity of original copies of contemporary Soviet literary works available domestically, making them difficult for students to access. We selected more works to provide instructors with greater flexibility in choosing materials, while the remaining selected works are available for students to read outside of class to broaden their knowledge. As a foreign language textbook, the selection process avoided works with overly difficult language, considering the students' accessibility and classroom teaching principles.
