Features: Ouyang Xiu (1007—1072), styled Yongshu, styled Zuiweng in his later years, and styled Liuyi Jushi in his old age, was a native of Yongfeng, Jizhou. He was a renowned statesman and outstanding litterateur of the Northern Song Dynasty. He lived through the reigns of emperors Zhenzong, Renzong, Yingzong, and Shenzong during his lifetime. He not only personally participated in many major political activities but also extensively engaged in fields such as history, classical studies, literary theory and criticism, epigraphy, and bibliography, achieving significant accomplishments in various disciplines, demonstrating his broad knowledge and talent. Especially his outstanding contributions to the literary reform movement of the Song Dynasty solidified his pioneering, trend-setting, and dominant position as a literary leader of his era. This collection is based on the Qing Jiaqing 24th-year edition of Ouyang Xiu's annotated and compiled text. This edition is chosen not only because it contains a large number of texts, is widely circulated, and has a significant influence, but more importantly, it is meticulously annotated and engraved, correcting many errors found in other editions.
