Features: In the early 1970s, China began treating bone and joint diseases with artificial joint replacement, starting with the hip joint, using artificial femoral heads and total hip joint replacement as the beginning. Despite the 10-year setbacks during the Cultural Revolution, orthopedic surgeons remained undeterred, overcoming shortages of materials and resources, and dedicatedly researching artificial joints in China. To this day, significant progress and remarkable achievements have been made, nearlyin both urban and rural areas. At that time, the author studied under Professor Hu Qingtan of Shanghai Second Medical University. Inspired by the artificial joint treatment practices in hospitals in the United States, Germany, and other countries, the author actively created conditions to carry out artificial joint treatment and was deeply moved by the joy of helping thousands of patients overcome disability. Over the past decade, the idea of summarizing and writing a book on the surgery of artificial hips began to take shape. Ultimately, encouraged by Professor Lü Houshan's book "Surgery of Artificial Joints," and supported by the enthusiasm of professors such as Dai Kerong, Lü Houshan, Yang Qingming, and Yu Nansheng, the collaborative effort spanned one and a half years before the manuscript was completed. To be honest, I improved my understanding through literature study and gained insights from many academic seminars. Therefore, the content and references in this book are evidence of the joint efforts of me and many friends.
