Features: Kawabata Hiromi graduated from the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science at Tsukuba University in Tokyo. Even during her student days, she was a main contributor to a student magazine. Eventually, in an online short story competition called the "Pascal Short Story Literary Newcomer Award," her short story "Kami no Michi" (1994) stood out, and the crisp, eerie fantasy world depicted in the work soon attracted significant attention from critics, publishers, and readers. Shortly thereafter, Kawabata won the 115th Akutagawa Prize with "Owari no Hebi" (1996), marking the official beginning of her writing career.
