Features: Xue Guyu, styled Jianshi, was a physician during the Southern Song Dynasty, with his birth and death dates unknown. He was skilled in gynecology and wrote works such as Wanjin Fang (Gynecological Treasury), Qianzi Tiaoyu Yaozhi (Three Volumes), Postpartum Songs and Treatments, and Yufeng Zheng Family Gynecological Secrets, all of which have been passed down in manuscript form. Xue Shi Jiyin Wanjin Shu consists of three volumes, compiled by Zheng Fuzheng based on Xue's Wanjin Fang. Zheng, styled Heyang, was from Kunshan during the Ming Dynasty and was a descendant of the Zheng family's gynecological tradition. He refined the family's inherited Jiyin Wanjin Shu to create Xue Shi Jiyin Wanjin Shu. The book covers gynecology, including menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth, and various gynecological disorders. Each condition is followed by treatment formulas, with detailed modifications. The text is thorough in describing symptoms and clear in formulating treatments, written in fluent and concise language with lucid reasoning. The integration of theory, methods, and prescriptions makes it a practical guide for clinical practice. Yunyu Xuanshi is divided into three volumes: the first discusses menstrual regulation in eleven chapters; the second explains fetal preservation in forty-eight chapters; and the third differentiates between childbirth and postpartum conditions in sixty-eight chapters. The entire book comprises one hundred and twenty-three chapters and over seventy thousand characters, providing a comprehensive treatment of common and frequent gynecological and obstetric conditions. The arguments are concise and accessible, offering valuable insights into fetal and postpartum care. Feminine Hundred Distinguitions is divided into miscellaneous conditions, menstrual regulation, prenatal care, childbirth, and postpartum care. It adopts a question-and-answer format to explain nearly a hundred conditions, detailing their etiology, pathogenesis, treatment, and prescribed formulas. In the miscellaneous conditions section, it discusses conditions such as stroke, cough, body pain, dysentery, and vomiting in women. The menstrual regulation section covers conditions like early menstruation, delayed menstruation, and amenorrhea. The prenatal section addresses conditions such as insufficient fetal development and pre-labor symptoms. The childbirth section discusses conditions like fetal death in utero, fainting during labor, retained placenta, and failure of the cervix to dilate. The postpartum section covers conditions such as uterine prolapse, postpartum fainting, postpartum delirium, postpartum asthma, postpartum limb pain, and postpartum urinary retention. The text references over forty formulas, mostly famous prescriptions from physicians. The Women's Essential Formulas section collects empirical formulas from physicians of the author's time and the author's own clinical prescriptions. While the theoretical explanations for some women's conditions may seem forced, the formulas in Women's Essential Formulas fully reflect the author's clinical experience and treatment style.
