Features: Senior universities are places where the elderly receive continuing education. It is understood that in major cities across the country, districts, streets, universities, and various system departments all have their own senior universities or senior cadre universities, with a total of over 10,000 in number. Some senior universities are very large, with thousands of students enrolled. Due to the generally low tuition fees for senior universities, they have created conditions for their development. In recent years, the urban elderly population has been increasing year by year. Although they have retired, most of them remain active and, while their material lives have improved, they are keen on pursuing a higher quality of life. To enrich their spiritual lives and enjoy the joy of "learning in old age, enjoying life in old age," they voluntarily join the lifelong learning movement, embodying the spirit of "learning until old age," like an evergreen tree that maintains its youthful vitality. In senior universities, painting and calligraphy classes are among the most popular subjects among students. The process of creating paintings and calligraphy involves a balance of soft and hard, combining stillness with movement, which helps learners harmonize their physiology and psychology, cultivate their character, and extend their lifespan. Statistics show that among the longest-lived individuals, calligraphers rank , followed by painters, which is one of the reasons why learning painting and calligraphy has become widely popular among the elderly. To meet the needs of the students in painting and calligraphy classes at senior universities and self-taught elderly painting enthusiasts who seek a standardized teaching material tailored to their specific characteristics, rather than general technical books, we have specially invited experts and teachers who have long been engaged in teaching painting and calligraphy in senior universities to jointly organize and compile this set of teaching materials. The topics are appropriately selected, and the chapters are arranged scientifically and reasonably, with illustrations and text that are easy to understand. The entire teaching material consists of eight volumes. We believe that the publication of this set of books will undoubtedly provide beneficial assistance to senior painting and calligraphy enthusiasts.
