Is the following phenomenon in babies due to calcium deficiency?

Patient's question:

When did the baby start taking calcium supplements? The baby is now 4.5 months old and hasn't taken calcium supplements yet. Is that okay? We are currently breastfeeding, and recently noticed that the baby suddenly cries during nighttime naps. Is it possible that this is a sign of calcium deficiency?

Doctor's answer:

Your child may be caused by vitamin D deficiency. In the early stages, they often appear restless, cry frequently, wake easily during naps, sweat excessively, especially with excessive head sweating after falling asleep. Due to the discomfort caused by sweat, the head often rubs against the pillow, leading to partial baldness at the back of the head, known medically as (crown pustule). The main treatment is to supplement vitamin D. Prevention measures:
1. Encourage breastfeeding and persist with it for 8 months.
2. Starting from 2 weeks after birth, give the baby an oral vitamin D supplement of 400 units daily.
3. Consume more foods rich in vitamin D and calcium, such as egg yolks, liver, fish, dairy products, and beans!
