Since the Huangchuan period of Emperor Xuan of the Western Han Dynasty (around 49 BC), with the emergence of paper books, it became highly prized for book storage. People began using camphor wood to make bookshelves, cabinets, boxes, and storage chests. After Cai Lun improved papermaking techniques in the Eastern Han Dynasty, paper books became widely used, leading to a large-scale use of camphor wood. This tradition has continued to this day.
