Patient's question:
Please check that the baby's face is yellow. Today, when I went for vaccination, I specifically asked the doctor to take a look again. She said there's no need to wait until the fourth month to add complementary foods. You can start adding a quarter of an egg yolk every day now. What kind of assistance do you need: I'd like to ask if it's okay to add food now when the child is not yet four months old. If it is possible, what time should I feed it, how should I feed it, and can I also add rice porridge and juice, etc.?
Doctor's answer:
When introducing new food to the baby, only one feeding per day is allowed, and the portion size should not be too large. For example, when adding yolk, start by feeding the baby 1/4 of it. After three or four days, if the baby shows no adverse reactions, has no hunger between meals, has normal bowel movements, and maintains deep, restful sleep, gradually increase the amount to half a yolk. Then, slowly reduce it to a whole yolk. Some parents, in their eagerness to provide the baby with a rich variety of foods, increase breast milk or other dairy products before the baby is six months old. This behavior is highly questionable. At this age, the baby's primary food should still be breast milk or formula, with other foods serving only as a digestive supplement.
