Features: This textbook was organized, compiled, and reviewed by the National Higher Medical Education Textbook Construction Research Association and the People's Medical Publishing House in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Education for textbooks, to meet the needs of China's higher medical education reform and development in the 21st century. It is intended for use in five-year teaching programs at higher traditional Chinese medicine colleges and universities nationwide.
Based on the training objectives of the clinical gynecology specialty in traditional Chinese medicine, the content of this textbook primarily reflects "Three Basics" (basic theories, basic knowledge, and basic skills), "Three Specifics" (specific target audience, specifically physicians engaged in clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine after graduation; specific requirements, specifically to implement the health work policy of prevention first; specific limitations, specifically to design the total word count of the textbook according to teaching hours), and "Five Characteristics" (ideological, scientific, inspirational, advanced, and applicable). During the writing process, the strengths and weaknesses of the previous six editions were taken into account, combined with clinical practice, and experience was summarized to establish the framework of this textbook. Diseases previously taught in gynecology, such as "ghost fetus," "onset of labor diseases," "women's abdominal pain," and "vaginal swelling," were removed, while common diseases with better experiences in recent years using traditional Chinese medicine or integrated Chinese and Western medicine treatment, such as pelvic inflammatory disease, polycystic ovary syndrome, and dysfunctional uterine bleeding (some included as appendices), were added. Since traditional Chinese medicine gynecology disease names cannot fully express the entire content of these diseases, Western medicine disease names are still used. Additionally, the outcomes and prognoses, prevention and care, and differential diagnosis of common gynecological emergencies have been included, along with the diagnosis and differential diagnosis, as well as emergency treatment, of various gynecological diseases.
The entire textbook is divided into three parts: General Theory, Specific Topics, and Appendices. General Theory and Specific Topics constitute the basic teaching content, while Appendices cover the anatomy and physiology of the female reproductive system, pregnancy diagnosis, prenatal examinations and normal delivery, gynecological examinations, common special examinations in obstetrics and gynecology, and family planning, which are provided for students' self-study or reference.
