Patient's question:

Symptoms: Itchy nose, chills
Onset time: Spring 2009
Laboratory test results:
History of previous treatment and effectiveness: Took Cetirizine syrup orally, symptoms reappeared after stopping the medication.

Doctor's answer:

Chronic rhinitis is believed to involve chronic inflammation of the nasal mucosa and the submucosal layer. In the early stages, chronic rhinitis often manifests as chronic congestion and edema of the nasal mucosa, referred to as simple chronic rhinitis. If it extends to include fibrous hypertrophy of the nasal mucosa and turbinates, it is termed chronic hypertrophic rhinitis.
After adulthood, 1. Simple Chronic Rhinitis: 1% ephedrine physiological saline nasal drops can be used, or 4 tablets of Biao Yin Kang taken orally three times daily, along with one packet of Biao Yin Ning granules taken 2–3 times daily. 2. Chronic Hypertrophic Rhinitis: Isolate the inferior turbinate, and apply 0.5 mL of 5% sodium squalene oil anesthetic every two weeks, for a total of 2–3 treatments. Cryotherapy or laser therapy can also be implemented.
