Features: How the Gaokao (National College Entrance Examination) is structured and conducted each year has always been a topic of widespread concern among candidates, parents, and teachers. In recent years, with the continuous updating of educational theories, the Gaokao question-setting has been innovating while maintaining fundamental stability. To select new talent with both innovative thinking and practical skills, the questions have evolved with new variations each year, building upon traditional successful experiences. The focus has shifted from "knowledge-based" to "ability-based" intention; emphasizing the application of thinking methods, the development of rational thinking; persistently assessing students' ability to analyze real-world scenarios and flexibly apply knowledge; and deeply examining students' learning potential and their independent reading, understanding, and application of new information.
All past Gaokao questions have been meticulously designed by the National Education Examination Center, involving professors from renowned universities, textbook editors, experienced education researchers, and outstanding high school teachers. The questions are profound in intent, clear in objectives, novel in context, and flexible in solutions. From the mid-1990s, when the country produced one set of Gaokao questions annually, to 2004 when more than ten different types of questions were produced nationwide, the Gaokao questions have become richer in content and more innovative in format. This collection includes a large number of high-quality, targeted, and practical candidate examples and review exercises that reflect the Gaokao requirements and have real-world significance.
To provide students and teachers preparing for the Gaokao with a convenient and comprehensive "question bank," this series compiles Gaokao questions from the past five years across five subjects: Chinese, English, Mathematics, Liberal Arts Comprehensive (including Politics, History, and Geography), and Science Comprehensive (including Physics, Chemistry, and Biology). The questions are categorized by knowledge points or ability requirements, allowing readers to clearly understand the "trajectory" of Gaokao question-setting for key knowledge areas, as well as the standards, approaches, and methods of assessment.
To showcase the historical evolution of questions, the series selects annually meaningful questions that remain relevant even after their release, with answers provided at the end of each book. It is well-known that the 2004 Gaokao consisted of 15 sets of papers, with varying question-setting styles across regions, yet all covering the same key knowledge points. To ensure readers have early access to this year's Gaokao questions, we have revised the format of the original color book and divided the new "Gaokao Hot Topics Question Bank" into two parts. The Hot Topics Question Bank maintains the same principles, continuing to compile selected past questions, while the 2004 National Gaokao Papers section includes all national Gaokao papers from this year for easy reference. This allows candidates and teachers to summarize experiences and predict trends for the 2005 Gaokao. Additionally, the Chinese section of the 2004 Gaokao papers includes full-length winning essays from various regions, appended to their respective papers for study and review.
After the revision, the new book has increased in authority and expanded in volume, with new features unmatched by other similar books, providing reliable materials for teachers and students to (understand question-setting trends).
