How to handle a 8-month-old baby with a fever for 2 days?

Patient's question:

8-month-old baby, starting from April 19th with high fever from 37.1°C to 38.3°C, dropped to 39.3°C on the 20th. Took 1.25ml of medicine and applied Bingbing fever-reducing patch. Went to the hospital at 2 a.m. with a temperature of 39.7°C, focused on feeding. Then, fever alternated every 7 hours, with low-grade fever recurring. Blood tests at the hospital showed white blood cell count at 3.08 (reference range: 4.00-10.00), neutrophils (%) at 1.7 (reference range: 51.00-75.00), neutrophils (#) at 0.05 (reference range: 2.04-7.50), lymphocytes (%) at 72.1 (reference range: 20.00-40.00), and monocytes (%) at 25.3 (reference range: 3.00-8.00).
Previous treatment and outcomes: Alternate use of fever-reducing suppositories, approximately every 7 hours, plus Yangliangjiao granules, Bingbing fever-reducing patches, alcohol rubs, and warm baths. Qizao granules and Shiboluo tablets were used to boost white blood cell count.
Desired assistance: The baby has persistent low-grade fever and the parents want to give medicine, but the doctor says it's unnecessary. However, the baby seems very uncomfortable with the fever, and they want to consult whether the low neutrophil count is the reason for not giving medicine or if it's due to fear of cross-infection at the hospital. Are there other methods available for treatment?

Doctor's answer:

Eight-month-old baby, has been running a fever for three days and gradually easing. White blood cell count is 3.08. Neutrophils (%) 1.7. Lymphocytes (%) 72.1. Monocytes (%) 25.3. It seems like a viral infection is more likely.
Used Meilin and fever-reducing suppositories alternately, antelope horn particles, Bingbing fever-reducing patches, alcohol rubs on the body, warm water baths, and tried various fever-reducing methods.
For your situation, I think intravenous treatment would be better.
