Sri Lanka is an island country located at the southern tip of the Indian subcontinent in the Indian Ocean, controlling the key routes of the eastern and western channels of the northern Indian Ocean. It has a coastline of over 1,340 kilometers. The country is renowned for its beautiful scenery and pleasant climate, often referred to as the "Pearl of the Indian Ocean." With a long history, the island is primarily inhabited by Sinhalese and Tamil people, whose conflicts have been ongoing. After the 16th century, it was ruled by the Portuguese and the Dutch, and by the late 18th century, it became a British colony. In 1948, it gained independence and was renamed Sri Lanka in the 1970s. Since then, its economy, society, and culture have developed rapidly, and its international status has greatly improved. However, in recent years, violent incidents have increased, affecting domestic stability. Therefore, the path ahead for Sri Lanka will still be full of challenges.
