Features: This book comprehensively and systematically elaborates on the theory and application of designing, establishing, and implementing broadband network security. The book is divided into three main parts and two appendices. Part 1, consisting of Chapters 1–5, mainly includes: an overall overview of broadband networks; cryptographic systems and cryptographic security mechanisms; security threats in public broadband networks and their solutions; vulnerabilities of TCP/IP; OSI and TCP/IP network reference models; popular broadband access technologies; the concept of quality of service; existing broadband service standards and specifications. Part 2, consisting of Chapters 6–8, mainly includes: IP security; Secure Sockets Layer/Transport Layer Security; Kerberos network authentication security; the layout of security services and mechanisms within different network layers; the performance, cost, and manageability of network security solutions designed for real-time multimedia applications; other applications with strict QoS requirements; security constraints for embedded devices. Part 3, consisting of Chapters 9–12, mainly includes a large number of case studies and design solutions, covering topics such as secure high-speed internet access; IP telephony technology and real-time multimedia applications as well as interactive telephony. Finally, starting from the bottom layer, it outlines the steps for designing the fundamental architecture of broadband network security and proposes two design solutions to test readers' understanding of the entire book. The greatest feature of this book is its clear and easy-to-understand concepts, detailed and thorough explanations, close integration of theory and application, making it an exceptional work that reflects the current development and research level in the field of broadband network security.
