Patient's question:
What is related to pediatric epilepsy petit mal seizures? My friend's child developed epilepsy shortly after birth and is now being treated in the hospital. Can such a young child be cured? What kind of help is needed: What is related to pediatric epilepsy petit mal seizures?Doctor's answer:
Childhood epilepsy with petit mal seizures and generational inheritance: Many children with epilepsy develop symptoms during the preschool and adolescent stages. Some patients, in addition to experiencing absence seizures, also have mild rhythmic clonic movements. Seizures are most common in the face or upper limbs, particularly in the eyes and head. This group of patients is referred to as absence myoclonic seizures. Additionally, apart from absence seizures with atonic recurrence, there are cases where, besides experiencing absence seizures, there is a sudden loss of general muscle tone leading to falls, resulting in head injuries. After falling, they quickly recover completely, known as drop attacks. The recurrence is relatively mild, sometimes just involving the head nodding down, referred to as nodding attacks.
