Features: The first batch of 54 titles in the "Contemporary Collection of Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics" has achieved significant success since its launch in September 2000. The initial print run of 5,000 sets was in high demand, requiring a second print run of 6,000 sets by October. In just a few months, the publication of such a large-scale collection of linguistic works in China's academic publishing history is rare. Since its release, many institutions and individuals have eagerly ordered the collection. Graduate and undergraduate students view the Collection as a trusted guide, while teachers of all ages consider it a source of knowledge renewal. Practical evidence shows that the Collection, introduced by FLTRP, has received widespread praise from the Chinese linguistics and foreign language teaching communities. It will become a treasure trove to advance the teaching and research of linguistics and foreign language teaching in China. Building on the success of the first batch of 54 titles, FLTRP now introduces the second batch of 58 titles. The second batch of the Collection has five key features:
1. Comprising 58 original English works, it covers 33 disciplines, an increase from the first batch's 26, including newly added fields such as the history of linguistics, philosophy of language, cognitive linguistics, anthropological linguistics, the origins of language, and chemical grammar theory, thus better meeting diverse reader needs;
2. It includes influential works by renowned linguists such as Saussure, Sapir, Bloomfield, Halliday, Chomsky, Austin, Grice, and Leech, ensuring higher authority;
3. It incorporates classic linguistic works published by prestigious international publishers such as Oxford University Press and Harvard University Press;
4. It continues to feature expert prefaces, with an even stronger team of experts than the first batch;
5. The Collection is prefaced by the world-renowned linguist Professor Noam Chomsky and the distinguished Chinese linguist Professor Jia Xianhan.
This Collection is a large-scale, open-series that will actively contribute to the advancement of language teaching and research in China, as well as foreign language teaching and research. In the future, FLTRP will continue to introduce the latest and most influential works in linguistics and applied linguistics, consistently offering them to a broad readership.
