Features: This is a long novel describing a period of history during the late Southern Song Dynasty. During the reign of Emperor Li Zong of the Southern Song, treacherous ministers like Jia Simiao and Chen Xizhong successively held power, turning right into wrong, engaging in corruption and extorting taxes, leading to widespread bureaucratic corruption and the suffering of the people. The Yuan army seized the opportunity to invade from the south. Although the Southern Song had a strong naval and land force, the decadent dynasty could not withstand the attacks of the emerging Yuan cavalry. Adding to this, repeated military command errors led to continuous defeats, ultimately resulting in the entire army's annihilation at Mount Ya. Despite loyal ministers and martyrs like Wen Tianxiang, Lu Xiufu, and Li Tingzhi working tirelessly and striving to support the regime, the crumbling edifice could not be saved by a single pillar. Their righteous blood only became decorations for the funeral of the decadent dynasty. The book is based on extensive historical research, and the authors maintain a rigorous attitude in their creation, aiming to use literary methods to portray the rise and fall of an era as a cautionary tale to prevent future generations from repeating the sorrows of past generations. Therefore, both major and minor events are meticulously researched to ensure they are historically accurate, with no room for fictional embellishments. The characters in the book are neither glorified nor vilified.
