My baby has green poop.

Patient's question:

My baby often has green bowel movements, and they contain curds. What could be the reason?
Previous treatment history and effectiveness: The baby has taken probiotics, which provided some assistance.
How can this be completely eliminated? How can the bowel movements return to normal color? And how can they be free of curds?

Doctor's answer:

Infants who are breastfed typically have yellow or golden-yellow stools with a uniform, creamy consistency and a slightly sweet and sour odor, but they are not foul-smelling. There is no significant mucus, and occasionally, the stool may contain small curds or be slightly greenish. They have 3-5 bowel movements per day, though some may have 6-7, but each time the amount is not large, and the stool appears normal. The child's weight continues to increase normally, and their nutritional status is excellent. This is not a condition that requires any intervention.
If the child normally has 1-2 bowel movements per day but suddenly has 5-6 or more, and the stool contains excessive moisture or undigested food residue, it is advisable to seek medical follow-up.
