Features: Why is this so? The monks and laypeople throughout history who could not interpret the Diamond Sutra primarily failed to understand this: "Tathāgata." The reason why scholars both within and outside China cannot clearly explain the Diamond Sutra also lies in their inability to comprehend this: "Tathāgata." What is a Tathāgata? This is what virtuous men and women who have generated the aspiration for enlightenment must earnestly contemplate and realize! Please listen closely: The explanation of the learned man who interprets the Diamond Sutra focuses on guiding students to contemplate and realize the mind seal of the Tathāgata, to enter into and understand the Dharma of the Buddha, rather than relying on literal interpretation, instilling concepts, or merely increasing knowledge of Buddhism. Therefore, in this explanation, the learned man often speaks spontaneously, offering timely guidance based on the audience's feelings, questions, intentions, and readiness. Thus, whatever he says is tailored to the students' needs, awakening, explaining, and breaking through for them, leading them to wisdom and perfect harmony. The Diamond Sutra is originally meant for those who realize the mind and verify the nature. It is the great mind seal of the Tathāgata's enlightenment and the essence and source of all sutras spoken by the Buddha. It is by no means something that can be used to point at the moon by hitting a machine, as is done with worldly scriptures and their principles.
