Features: The medical textbook project by Higher Education Press was initiated and planned in early 2002 by the China Medical Association, the National Higher Education Teaching Research Association, and over ten renowned medical colleges in China. Subsequently, dozens of additional institutions joined the project. Nearly two thousand authors participated in writing this textbook, including leading figures in the medical field, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, leaders of relevant medical professional committees, and academic backbone members. It is particularly noteworthy that a large number of mid-career teachers and young educators from teaching and clinical frontline positions were also involved. The "Higher Education Press" medical textbooks retain the "three foundations" (basic theory, basic knowledge, and basic skills) of domestic similar textbooks while removing outdated theories and content based on the transformation of the medical model and changes in the disease spectrum. They also introduce recognized new knowledge and technologies. The textbooks are presented in a three-dimensional and series format to students and teachers, fully reflecting the characteristics of medical education. In recent years, our press has not only published medical textbooks of other disciplines and levels but has also developed corresponding teaching resource databases and subject websites to provide three-dimensional teaching packages and teaching solutions for universities and colleges. Pursuing advanced educational concepts and teaching methods, building high-quality textbooks is our common aspiration! This book is a national higher education medical planning textbook, intended for use by students in medical disciplines. The book consists of 20 chapters, with the first 13 systematically explaining the basic theories and methods of organic chemistry. Chapters 14, 16, 17, 18, and 19 focus on the chemical behavior of biomolecules directly related to living organisms, such as lipids, carbohydrates, proteins, and nucleic acids, as well as their connections with organic small molecules. Chapter 14 introduces natural biologically active organic compounds, emphasizing some active components in the body to lay a foundation for subsequent courses. Chapter 20 introduces the basic theories and applications of organic spectroscopy. The book strengthens the explanation of organic reaction mechanisms, transition states, intermediates, stereochemistry, and electronic effects. It also introduces and explores cutting-edge and hot topics in organic chemistry related to life processes, aiming to broaden students' horizons. This book is suitable for undergraduate students in medical disciplines at universities and colleges, as well as for reference by students in other disciplines of life sciences.
