Does taking medicine for a cold and getting vaccinated interfere with each other for babies?

Patient's question:

Doctor, my baby had a cold three months ago, took medicine, and got vaccinated. The baby had a cold but no fever, just coughing. After getting vaccinated, there was no fever either, but there was a little redness and swelling at the vaccination site. It went down after applying cold compress for a day or two. I just want to ask if there was any interference between the baby having a cold, taking medicine, and getting vaccinated? I've been very worried!

Doctor's answer:

The common cold is usually caused by a viral infection, with most cases being viral and often self-limiting with a good prognosis. Due to the weaker immune system in children, their condition may fluctuate more frequently. If your child has symptoms of a cold, it is recommended to postpone vaccination temporarily to avoid worsening the condition. You can resume vaccination after the illness has fully recovered for a week. Since your child has already been vaccinated without any adverse reactions, there is no need to worry.
