Features: This book is a classic work by Western historians. Since its first publication in 1913, it has been reprinted multiple times. The author, Gooch, was a British historian. He was well-read and deeply familiar with the works of Western historians in the 19th century, as well as the figures (such as Napoleon) or ancient histories (such as Greek and Roman history) they wrote. Therefore, he had unique insights into the historians and their works of that time. This book can also be considered a book review of historical works.
